About
Biyyiah earned her BSN from the University of Michigan–Ann Arbor in 2014 and an MSN in Advanced Public Health Nursing, along with a Certificate in Public Health Practice, from Wayne State University in 2021. She is currently pursuing a PhD in Nursing at Wayne State University (with Dr. Lisa Blair), with plans to continue her research, education, and advocacy efforts to promote informed decision-making, benefit maximization, and harm reduction in cannabis use among marginalized communities, with a focus on mental health.
In the lab, Biyyiah contributes to the CannaMama study and supports vision planning for the CANDID research division. She also serves as Chair of the PhD Forum for the College of Nursing, where she works to strengthen community, mentorship, and engagement among doctoral students.
Outside the Lab
In her free time, Biyyiah enjoys community outreach and service, reading urban fiction, and taking walks near the water like at Belle Isle, Lake Michigan, or other peaceful shorelines.
